Modern Wine Displays with IronWine Cellars Cable Racking

Are you searching for the best wine racking system to hold and protect your most valued wine collection? Check out IronWine Cellars’ cable racking! All modular and precisely engineered, their racks can handle thousands of wine bottles for a long time.

Wine racks are more than just open display cabinets for wines. A rack’s structural design and materials can influence airflow within the cellar, affecting how well a bottle of wine will be exposed to the surrounding temperature and humidity. If you’re out looking for a modern wine racking design for your wine collection, we recommend evaluating the frame’s arrangement, the type of materials used, and how the rack was manufactured.

On this page, we’re going to give you a glimpse of what to expect with IronWine Cellars’ cable wine racks and how they’re fitted onto custom wine cellars.

What Makes IronWine Cellars’ Cable Racking Different From More Traditional Options?

Black cable racks sets from IronWine Cellars look very futuristic.

Traditional wine racks are typically made from wood. A more modern take incorporates the use of metal rods and pegs as well. The common thing with these two (2) is that both are dense and are usually wall mounted. Not considering their stylish aesthetic, the density or thickness of wooden and metal wine racks could restrict air distribution within a cellar, especially if the cooling system isn’t properly planned. Because metal cables are slender, they promote better airflow, cooling your wines more evenly, 24/7, no matter the type of wine cellar cooling unit you’ll use.

Dimensions and Capacity

Minimalist wine cellar designs have overtaken the market over the last few years. While a straightforward design seems like a walk in the park, a lot goes into deciding its length, thickness, firmness, and how it will be supported, assuming maximum capacity. Technical mastery is required to build highly durable cable wine racks, and IronWine Cellars has done this, even adding scalability as one of its unique features.

This is IronWine Cellars’ cable rack set with a chrome finish.

One (1) column of IronWine Cellars’s Cable Racking System can accommodate up to 24 wine bottles (10 feet/3,048mm), and the number of columns you can attach side by side is unlimited, given that you use double-sided clamps. You can start with a few cable wine racks and add more sets gradually as your wine collection grows.

Unparalleled Display Appearance

The thin nature of cable wine racks makes the bottles look hovering. This approach puts more focus and emphasis on the wine collection rather than the rack, sparking more curiosity and interest from the onlooker.  These racks look best with Acrylic LED panels that you mount on the wall, the ceiling, or the floor. Nonetheless, you can use other types of LED lights and still illuminate the entire collection fairly well.

This is one set. You need to have two (2) sets to hold a bottle of wine — one for the neck and the other for the base. This one has Ironwine Cellars’ gold finish.

What Are These Cable Wine Racks Made Of?

IronWine’s cable wine racks are made from superior quality stainless steel and brass. Stainless steel and brass are known to be corrosion resistant, low maintenance, and can withstand nearly-extreme temperatures and humidity.  In a climate-controlled wine cellar environment, IronWine’s cable racks can endure for a lifetime.

Components and Features of IronWine Cellars’ Cable Racking

A basic, single-column cable rack has a minimum of four (4) components: a tension set, ball joints, a left clamp, and a right clamp. An additional double-sided clamp is necessary if you intend to build two (2) or more columns.

  • Tension Set –This includes the vertical cables and brass buckles that anchor the top and bottom ends of the wires.
  • Ball Joints – These are the horizontal, stainless-steel cables where the bottles sit. One is used to hold the neck, and another is used to support the base. The ball joints are attached to the adjacent wires via the clamps.
  • Left Clamp – Used to secure and support the left end of the horizontal wire.
  • Right Clamp – Used to secure and support the right end of the horizontal wire.
  • Double Clamp – Used to connect two (2) cables to form two (2) columns. This clamp is placed between a left clamp and a right clamp or a left clamp and another double clamp.
IronWine Cellars’ dual-sided, wine rack clamp features two (2) slots for the ball joints.

Types of Metal Finishes

IronWine’s brass-made tension sets and stainless-steel cables come in three (3) colors: chrome, black, and gold — timeless colors that will always look sleek, shiny, and fancy.  Moreover, these materials don’t have to be painted with lacquer or wax to complete the final look, saving the clients from strong, headache-causing odors.

Each component in a cable wine rack is bought and packaged individually, which means that you can put together different finishes to match your wine room’s color scheme.

Packing the parts separately is another service that sets IronWine Cellars apart from other wine rack manufacturers. Because it can be difficult for non-professionals to install the cable wine racks themselves, some companies pre-assemble the entire frame before shipping it to their customer. Pre-fabricated cable wine racks are not highly advisable, though, because if one part of the system is damaged during shipment, you may have to return the entire set and wait again.

How Are Cable Display Systems Installed?

IronWine Cellars think about their products carefully. This here is a single-sided clamp, either for the left side or the right side of the cable rack.

Since these cable racks are installed piece-by-piece on site, you can adjust the distance between the cables to accommodate different bottle sizes (from standard 750mls to magnum-sized bottles that are larger than 1600ml). Likewise, if you decide to rearrange the display at the last minute, like do a different bottle orientation (from cork-forward to label-forward, vice-versa) or bring in larger-sized bottles, you can easily do so.

A trained professional must install your cable wine rack system since they may need to set up structural reinforcement. The tension sets are more stable when you fasten them in more concrete materials like plywood, and only specialists can determine whether there’s a need to construct better soffits and bases.
